Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has warned fellow European club bosses that the club's protracted legal battle with the Premier League will take a long time to reach a final resolution. News of the multiple charges leveled against City over alleged breaches of the league's financial regulations immediately triggered widespread speculation regarding unprecedented sanctions against the club.
In an open letter published on Saturday, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak reassured supporters that the club remains confident of proving its innocence. In a similar vein, Soriano addressed the delicate situation during a European Club Association board meeting in Copenhagen on Monday.
According to the Press Association, Soriano spoke at the conclusion of the meeting, explaining that he felt obliged to address Friday's developments. He emphasized that Manchester City strongly disagree with the ruling, remain confident of victory, and will continue to fight the case.
"It took us eight years to get here, and it is going to take a lot more time," Soriano stated.
