Valencia's ownership has initiated a complete overhaul of the club's sporting and technical staff, following the team's last-place standing in La Liga.
The club announced the dismissal of sporting director Ron Gourlay, head coach Carlos Corberán, and his entire coaching staff, including Lisandro Isei, Hans Gilhaus, Andrés Zamora, and Malek Chafey. Óscar Sánchez, who previously managed the reserve team, will temporarily take over as head coach. Braulio Vázquez has been appointed as the new sporting director. The 54-year-old executive previously held the same role at the club between 2010 and 2013. He then spent three years at Valladolid, and from 2017 until now, he served as the director at Osasuna.
Corberán arrived at Mestalla on Christmas Day 2024. Under his leadership, Valencia recorded 28 wins, 18 draws, and 26 losses in a total of 72 matches. This season, the team started with a goalless draw against Celta, followed by four consecutive defeats to Real Betis (0-1), Deportivo La Coruña (1-3), Barcelona (0-5), and Sevilla (0-1). This dismal run leaves "Los Che" at the bottom of La Liga, ultimately costing the 43-year-old Spaniard his coaching position.
