Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has declared his team embodies the "evolution of football" and insists the transfer window remains open. The Parisian giants have already secured several new signings, including Ferran Torres, who scored the goal that clinched Spain's second World Cup title.
"We are the evolution of football. We strive to capitalize on our strengths and perform at the highest level, regardless of the opponent. We look for open spaces, if they exist, and as is often the case, even when they don't, because the opposition is defending deep," Enrique stated at a press conference ahead of their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.
"Within the coaching staff, we are always open to receiving information, whether through statistics or artificial intelligence. We utilize everything we believe can improve the team," added the manager of the two-time European club champions.
Luis Enrique clarified that the club remains open to new opportunities in the transfer market. "We never close it prematurely. We are open to possibilities until the very last day," he affirmed.
So far, PSG has brought in Ferran Torres (from Barcelona), French international Maghnes Akliouche (from Monaco), Belgian Mika Godts (from Ajax), French international Lucas Digne (from Aston Villa), and young Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni from the AC Milan academy.
"Many want to come to PSG, but it's challenging to find profiles that can genuinely improve the team physically, technically, or mentally," he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique downplayed the fact that he won't be able to make his Ligue 1 debut tomorrow against Rennes at the Parc des Princes due to the poor condition of the pitch, caused by recent heatwaves: "It's business as usual. For us, this doesn't change how we prepare for the match; we do the same whether we're home or away. It's true it's different, but we have to adapt."
