It seemed all but over. Despite trailing by a massive 19 points at one stage, Serbia looked poised to secure their second victory over France, one of the world's basketball powerhouses, in just three days. Marko Gudurić's layup put Serbia ahead 90:89, leaving France with only 4.7 seconds on the clock. But for Victor Wembanyama, Sylvain Francisco, and Jalen Hoard, that was more than enough.

Wembanyama inbounded the ball to Francisco. Four Serbian players converged on him, but the Panathinaikos guard calmly dished it to a wide-open Jalen Hoard, who, in full stride and completely unguarded, slammed it home for the win as the buzzer sounded.

Serbia had previously defeated France 90:87 in their first warm-up game at the Belgrade Arena on Thursday. However, luck was not on their side this time.

Following these two friendly matches against France, Serbia will now begin the second round of qualifiers for next year's FIBA World Cup in Qatar.
