Spanish international Marcos Llorente expressed his bewilderment at France's complaints regarding the officiating in the World Cup semi-final, which "La Roja" won 2-0.
France coach Didier Deschamps commented on the penalty awarded for the first goal, stating: "It was a controversial situation, we shouldn't forget that, while they were systematically breaking the rules. There were many petty fouls and the game was constantly stopped."
In response to these claims, Llorente said: "Why is France complaining about the refereeing? I don't know, we won because we were better, and they are forced to grasp at something. Despite the doubts, we have always believed in ourselves and our philosophy. We have something to celebrate – it's not every day you play in a World Cup final... I hope we can win it."
"No one stands out because we are all performing at an excellent level. Our success at the World Cup is due to the team, the unity, the family atmosphere, and the good spirits," added the Atlético Madrid defender.
