Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Manchester City's legacy could be severely tarnished if the outcome of the financial case against the club stands. The Citizens were found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges for breaching Premier League rules, with potential sanctions yet to be determined.

"Their legacy is wiped out. If things go the wrong way for them, they will go down in history as cheats, and everything they did and won during that period shouldn't count," Souness stated. The former Liverpool player and manager believes that if titles are stripped, it raises the question of whether they should be awarded to the runners-up.

Souness specifically pointed to Liverpool as a club that could lay claim to two additional titles if Manchester City are stripped of their honours. "Money is not an issue for them, so whatever fine they receive will only scratch the surface," he added. According to Souness, any potential punishment could carry far-reaching consequences for English football, with City's relegation from the Premier League among the possibilities being discussed.
