Liam Gallagher reveals Manchester City's potential punishment should appeal fail

Manchester City will not face relegation from the Premier League or be stripped of their silverware even if an appeal from the Etihad proves unsuccessful. That is according to legendary Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, who has commented on his beloved club's plight as the reigning champions await official sanctions for Financial Fair Play breaches.

Following an investigation by an independent commission, the club was found guilty on almost all counts. The landmark case dates back to February 2023, when City were hit with 115 charges for alleged financial rule breaches committed between 2009 and 2018.

Despite the looming threat of severe penalties, Gallagher claims to have inside knowledge regarding the impending verdict. Writing on X, the rock star stated:

"Just heard from someone very, very high up that if we lose the appeal – which we won't – all we'll get is a fine and a transfer ban, nothing more. So all you desperate and neurotic haters can shut up."

His post quickly sparked debate among supporters over whether the singer should be disclosing such sensitive information. The sanctions Gallagher described contrast sharply with the sweeping punishments anticipated and called for by pundits and rival football fans alike.
