Morgan is fast becoming a name to watch in the UK’s urban event scene. It’s the middle of July in Barnet Lane, Barnet Playing Fields, and Leroy Morgan, a Nigerian immigrant living in the UK, is on site coordinating for the event, amidst Ghanaians, as one in charge of tickets for sponsors and vendors.
Although Nigeria and Ghana are neighbours in West Africa, the ‘jollof wars’ are a staple of African sibling rivalry.
There Morgan was, blending with and working to advance the cause of his ‘jollof arch-enemies.’ But this time, they would devour ‘jollof rice’ together, as they work together, to make sure Ghana Party In The Park, a 20-year staple of UK urban culture, would be another success. For Morgan, this was a privilege. His accent might have stuck out, but no one could question his work ethic and dedication.
A little bit of background…
See, Morgan left the shores of his comfort in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2022. He was a Lawyer in the Corporate-Commercial space (Nigerians refer to it as the ‘big money’ space), but he always had a flair for entertainment. Thus, he convinced his first client to incorporate an entertainment angle, for which he brought the business into advisory, negotiation, and representation capacities.
A Lawyer by day, he would negotiate show deals for a Nigerian duo called TFO during his lunch and tea breaks, and then go be their road manager at night. On this sojourn into the entertainment industry, he noticed a dearth in the quality of nous related to the entertainment business.
He also discovered his passion for producing shows, talent management, and assisting event organisers and show promoters in finding and managing suitable talent for their events.
Thus, he made a decision to quit his lane in Law practice and focus on the space where he could express his passion and bring his creative ideas to life. He secured himself a slot at the University of Westminster, to study Music Business Management, to equip himself with the requisite skills to help transform the creative spaces he found himself.
At the University of Westminster’s Alternative Escape showcase in 2023, a spinoff of The Great Escape designed to highlight the university’s student talent, Leroy Morgan’s influence was felt immediately.
Working under the guidance of lecturer and curator Julia Toppin, he managed event curation, talent selection and coordination, and budget-conscious promotion with a level of professionalism that belied his newcomer status. The result was a tightly run show, noted for its polish and energy, that set a new benchmark for student-led showcases.
That success paved the way for The Troubadour in October 2024, another event within a tour curated by Toppin, where Morgan once again proved his ability to translate vision into seamless execution.
His handling of logistics and performance flow demonstrated a maturity rare for someone so early in his career. It affirmed his transition from law into the creative industries. It was at The Adrenaline Show in July 2024, however, that Morgan’s skills came fully into focus.
Appointed president of the production, he took charge from concept through execution. The event’s seamless blend of artistry and structure reflected his curatorial instincts, while his cross-border perspective brought a distinct multicultural richness to the lineup.
Few emerging practitioners show this level of command over both creative and operational elements. His adaptability was further tested at AnEndlessOcean’s Meet and Greet 2024 in London, a Gospel-focused event delivered in partnership with Folke Consulting.
Here, Morgan’s responsibilities spanned venue procurement, sequencing, technical support, and vendor management. He ensured a smooth experience for both artist entourage and fans, no small feat in a genre he had not previously worked in.
The success of the evening broadened his network and confirmed his capacity to deliver across diverse cultural contexts. Across these projects, Morgan demonstrates not only organisational rigour but also a curatorial sensibility that enriches each production he touches. His trajectory marks him as a practitioner capable of shaping multicultural live music experiences with both precision and flair.
2025
At this year’s Ghana Party in the Park, Leroy Morgan’s influence behind the scenes was unmistakable. While officially leading ticketing for sponsors and vendors, he proved his versatility through decisive negotiation and impeccable timing.
Securing D’Wante’s late addition to the lineup was not just a logistical success but also a creative masterstroke. The audience’s response confirmed that his intervention lifted the event’s energy and reach.
Morgan’s ability to merge business precision with artistic insight underscores his emergence as a cultural mediator and marks him as a rising force in the UK’s urban live event scene.
His creativity and adaptability distinguish him as an emerging leader in event curation, management, and the broader music business.
