Charles Leclerc was the sole driver in the top 10 to start on soft tires in the Zandvoort sprint race, and the Ferrari driver managed to overtake Lando Norris for second place just before the finish.

“When you’re the only one making such a decision, you’ve either got it perfectly right or made a huge mistake,” Leclerc stated. “I believe, in the end, we didn’t make a mistake with the soft tires at the start. We prepared well, and on the starting grid, I was hopeful we had made the right call.”
“I knew Lando didn’t have enough energy deployment on the start-finish straight, and I had to capitalize on that, as we brake at the same point for the first corner. But I think it worked out well.”
“I didn’t expect to gain a position towards the end of the race on soft tires, but rather at the start, though my getaway wasn't great. The car feels very good, and I think that’s a positive sign for the start of the second half of the season.”
