LeBron's Teammate Reveals What Would Mean More to Him Than Winning an NBA Title
Philadelphia 76ers guard V.J. Edgecombe made an eye-opening admission, stating that competing at the Olympic Games with the Bahamas national team is a bigger priority for him than winning an NBA championship ring.
The 21-year-old guard shared his perspective during a livestream hosted by teammate Jaylen Brown, who brought up Edgecombe's performances for the Bahamas this past summer and asked what it would mean to represent his home country on the biggest sporting stage in the world.
"To be completely honest, that means more to me. It might sound crazy, but I'd choose that over winning an NBA championship," said the standout prospect selected No. 3 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft.
This past summer, the teammate of blockbuster Sixers acquisition LeBron James featured in three games for the Bahamas in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, posting impressive averages of 23.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 3 steals per game.
The Bahamas currently sit fourth in Group F, trailing Argentina and Uruguay by two wins. With only the top three teams advancing to the next round, securing a place at the World Cup would keep their Olympic dreams alive, giving the Bahamians a chance to fight for an Olympic berth on the global stage.
