According to ESPN, the price sets a new record for the acquisition of any sports franchise in North America.

This marks the second time the Lakers have changed ownership in just a year and a half. The previous owner was Mark Walter, who acquired a controlling stake in the club from the Buss family last year.

However, in a sudden turn of events, they decided to bid for and purchase the Lakers for an astounding $12.5 billion.
