Lady Gaga And Oprah Winfrey Just Set All Those Bradley Cooper Romance Rumors Straight
If youve ever seen A Star Is Born, you know that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have ridiculous onscreen chemistry. That naturally got fans talking, and rumors of an offscreen romance heated up when they performed their loving duet "Shallow" together at the Oscars. Then, people almost started hyperventilating when Bradley and his longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk broke up not long after the awards show.
Well, Gaga just sat down to Oprah Winfrey to set things straight. In an interview with Elle (conducted by Oprah), Gaga called all the press around her and Bradley was "very silly."
"I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love," she said. "And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on. And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing outit was orchestrated as a performance."
Not totally convinced? Peep their performance and judge for yourself:
Apparently, Gaga and Bradley even discussed all the press around a potential romantic relationship afterward. "When we talked about it, we went, 'Well, I guess we did a good job!'" she added.
Oprah also referenced a conversation she had with Bradley, in which he told her that "if [the rumors] had been true, he never would have been able to look [Lady Gaga] in the eye sitting at that piano." The pop star agreed, saying, "Absolutely. Absolutely."
Though the rumor mill was swirling for months on end, Lady Gaga was reportedly dating sound engineer Daniel Horton around the same time, though she never publicly acknowledged the relationship. However, Gaga wrote on Instagram Stories in October that shes "a single lady" while celebrating at her makeup artist Sarah Tannos bachelorette party.
Gaga and Bradley never said much about the dating rumors, but theyve been super supportive of each other in public. After accepting the Oscar for Best Original Song, Gaga said, "Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that couldve sang this song with me but you. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you so much."
Well, they'll always have A Star Is Born...
