These 2 Women Beat 8 Men To Win Golf Contest In Lagos
The 3rd edition of the annual Johnnie Walker Blue Label (JWBL) golf Championship sponsored by premium Scotch brand, Johnnie Walker did end with the surprises and usual excitement expected from such a tournament.
The event took off in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, and much to the satisfaction of participants and organizers, it lived up to expectations.
Held at the 19 holes Golf Course of Lakowe Lakes, the JWBL teed off with the competitors swinging to the best of their technicality and skill.
First round ended within hours after kickoff, with some advancing into the second round while the rest dropped to the bottom
So it continued until the 3rd round where the boys had been separated from the men and the girls from the women
Showing off their skills in resplendent attires, embellished with golf apparels, the women heralded, dusting the men trouble into the corner bins
Adding to the glamour of the event and were the presence of key partners and sponsors who got together to ensure that the still, quiet lake of Lakowe estates was not the only side attraction
There also was a brand new Porsche automobile, which could have gone with the winner pf the championship if she made the 3-in-1 hole benchmark set by the partners; sadly no one did and we would have loved to drive the fine, touche classic ride to back to our home.
At the end of exchanges and challenges, two women; one the first female captain of Ikoyi Golf club and Roxane Dolhain went away with the first and second prizes, beating stiff competition from 8 other male participants.
Maureen Reece, a participant from Edo state and the first female captain of Ikoyi Golf Club beat competition from these men
Mrs Maureen Reec went home with the top prize and the sole ticket to represent Nigeria at the 2014 Ryder Cup Golf championship
Mrs. Reece, as she emphatically stressed, will not be swinging her club at the World championship, but will be flying Nigeria’s flag at the tournament
She also goes home with the jacket designed by Nigeria’s foremost clothier Mai Atafo.
