Free agent Matisse Thybulle is set to sign a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reports.
The 29-year-old wing, a two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection, held discussions with head coach JJ Redick and Luka Doncic regarding his move to the California franchise.
Thybulle was reportedly pleased with the defensive role offered to him by the Lakers and agreed to join the team after spending the previous four and a half seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.
The former Philadelphia 76ers player, drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft, has played 377 games in the league, averaging 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Over the past two campaigns, he shot 41.8% from three-point range but appeared in only 45 games.
Matisse Thybulle marks the seventh new acquisition for the Lakers this summer, following the arrivals of Ziaire Williams, Walker Kessler, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Collin Sexton, Quentin Grimes, and Kevon Looney.
