Kylian Mbappé Confident of Ballon d'Or Win: "They'll Announce a Player's Name, Not a Team"
The 27-year-old footballer, in an interview with radio station RFI, emphasized his conviction that he will be the one to take home the prestigious award.
"They won't announce a team in an envelope; they'll announce a player's name. The ability to deliver individual performances and create significant moments is what draws people to an award like this. I was the top scorer in all the biggest competitions, and I think this could be my year; I really feel it," Mbappé stated.
The World Cup in North America saw Mbappé crowned the top scorer, a title he also held last season in the Champions League and Spain's La Liga. He netted a total of 25 goals in the top Spanish league, added another 15 in the Champions League, and 10 at the World Cup. At the World Cup, he became the tournament's all-time leading scorer with a total of 22 goals.
Mbappé's rivals include players who achieved success with their clubs or national teams in 2026. Among them are reigning world champions Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres, as well as the Champions League-winning duo from PSG, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. German champion Harry Kane, from Bayern Munich, also cannot be overlooked.
The Ballon d'Or awards ceremony will take place on October 26th in London, England.
