The association already took action last weekend by reporting multiple discriminatory messages to Meld.OnlineDiscriminatie.nl (MOD). The KNVB collaborates with this organization as part of the 'Discrimination = Pointless' campaign. Lawyers from the reporting center review the complaints and determine if the expressions are punishable offenses. In such cases, platforms can be asked to remove messages or accounts, and legal charges can also be filed.
Messages Already Removed from X
Several messages have already been removed from X. A request has also been made to take an account named 'siegheil' offline. Cases suitable for further prosecution are forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service via the KNVB. The association has already contacted them. KNVB chairman Frank Paauw will officially file charges on behalf of the KNVB. According to the football association, a conscious decision was made to pursue multiple avenues simultaneously to ensure the approach is as robust as possible.
'There Are Limits'
With this action, the KNVB aims to send a clear signal. The association acknowledges that it's impossible to track down every racist comment online but emphasizes that transgressive behavior will not go unpunished. "There are limits, and for those who cross those limits, there are consequences," is the clear message from the football association.
