Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has reportedly urged the Anfield hierarchy to sign RB Leipzig's rising star, Jan Diomande, as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to “The Sun”. Salah announced a few days ago that he would be leaving the Reds at the end of the current season after nine years at the club. Liverpool will undoubtedly need to bring in a successor, and some sources from Anfield even suggest they plan to acquire not one, but two wide players. Michael Olise, Jan Diomande, Bradley Barcola, Anthony Gordon, and Francisco Conceição are among the wingers linked with the Merseyside club.
As is well-known, Klopp, who recently returned to Liverpool for today's charity match between the Reds' legends and those of Borussia Dortmund, heads Red Bull's global football division. Leipzig is generally believed to want to keep 19-year-old Diomande for at least another season, but the club is aware that this will be a difficult task. At the same time, they could command a significant fee for the talent this summer. Following his strong season, Diomande is valued at £87 million, and interest in him is high. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham are also reportedly keen on the Ivorian. If a transfer at such a price materializes, it would be RB Leipzig's most expensive sale ever. Currently, the record is held by Joško Gvardiol, who was sold to Manchester City for £78 million in 2023.
