King Green secured one of his most dominant victories in recent years, submitting Jeremy Stephens in the opening bout of the UFC 328 main card. The lightweight veteran earned his third consecutive win, forcing his opponent to tap out via a rear-naked choke.
From the outset, Green showcased his fast hands in striking exchanges, but soon opted to take the fight to the ground. There, he unleashed a barrage of brutal ground and pound from a dominant position. It appeared he might finish the fight with strikes, but instead, Green found an opening to apply the choke. Stephens had no choice but to submit.
Immediately after his victory, Green addressed UFC brass, reminding them he deserved a performance bonus.
“Hey, Hunter Campbell, hey, Dana White, I’m one of the most exciting fighters to ever step into this Octagon,” Green exclaimed. “I’ve been doing this for years, and nothing’s going to change. I didn’t get a bonus last time, so I had to tell them. You can make me tap, you can knock me out, but I feel like Michael Myers – you can’t kill me!” he added.
Immediately after the fight, Stephens removed his gloves, sparking speculation that he might be considering retirement. However, he left the Octagon without making any statement, so only time will tell if this marks the end of his career or if he will return for another bout.
