Kátia Aveiro Guarantees Ronaldo's 'Last Dance': "It Will Be Hard to Find Someone Like Him"
Kátia Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo's sister, believes the forward's farewell from the national team could be imminent. Speaking to journalists in Toronto, where Portugal is set to face Croatia in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, Kátia Aveiro also addressed the criticism her brother has been receiving.
"Confident and happy, because we have to savor these moments. It's the 'last dance' for two players, both for Croatia and for Portugal. The most important thing is to enjoy these 20-plus years we've lived, won, and come so far. I am incredibly proud. I was in Qatar, I'm here now. It's a tremendous source of pride. I'm confident, and we'll be smiling in the end. Ronaldo is great and confident, less nervous than us. I felt good energy and confidence. For us, the fans, it brings comfort. We can trust. Spain in the Round of 16? Whoever comes, we'll have to face them; that's football, and we have to be prepared," she stated, when asked about a potential presence at Euro 2028.
"From the information I have, they might be saying goodbye. Enjoy it. They won't be saying goodbye today, but it's coming soon. I believe it's the farewell. Cherish it. It will be hard to find someone like him. After a thousand goals? Yes, that's it. I'm talking about the national team. The information I have, from a reliable source, makes me believe it's the 'last dance'," she declared, addressing the criticism Ronaldo has faced.
"For intelligent people, those who love football, they must love Ronaldo. Those who don't like Ronaldo, don't like football. They are the ones who lose out. He's been breaking records for over 20 years. Do they think we're not happy? Look at where the Aveiro family is now and where we came from. We've achieved so much, from where we started... After the struggles we've had, what my brother went through, the triumph my mother had... do they think criticism will interfere with our happiness? Never," she concluded.
