A helicopter belonging to the Nigerian military has reportedly crashed in Adamawa State.

The aircraft was reportedly on a surveillance mission in Damare around the Girei Local Government Area of the state when the incident occurred.

A journalist resident in Yola, the state capital told PREMIUM TIMES that the helicopter was carrying arms and ammunition and that there were foreigners aboard.

“Immediately after the crash, soldiers were drafted to the scene to cordon off the scene,” he said.

A resident, Jamilu Inuwa confirmed the crash saying:

“The helicopter crashed in Damare. I don’t know if it is a military plane or not.”

The military is yet to issue an official confirmation as regards the incident.
