Jude Bellingham missed the initial months of the current season at Real Madrid, having undergone shoulder surgery in the summer to address a persistent issue. Doctors had advised him to have the operation since his time at Dortmund, but he was reluctant to be sidelined for an extended period.
The English attacking midfielder revealed on his YouTube channel that he made a huge mistake by not having the surgery sooner. He recalled the moment his shoulder dislocated during the match against Rayo Vallecano: "It all started on the day of the game against Rayo. It was the most painful sensation I had ever experienced up to that point – I had never felt so much pain. It felt like an eternity until they put it back in, and it was only 90 seconds from when they came onto the pitch until it was back in place. Previously, I could put it back in myself whenever it came out."
He also admitted that the fear of a new shoulder injury prevented him from pushing himself and performing at the highest possible level. "The shoulder injury had a big impact on the rest of my body. I wasn't in a lot of pain, but playing knowing that if I fell it could happen again, meant I couldn't be at my best."
