Vujošević had been battling various health issues for years. In June of last year, he underwent a kidney transplant in Belarus, which, in his words, "went well." However, on March 15th of this year, he was hospitalized due to pneumonia, as well as heart and kidney problems.
Unfortunately, unlike his many basketball battles, he did not emerge victorious from this one.
Details of Vujošević's funeral announced
In a statement to "Euronews," KK Partizan President Ostoja Mijailović revealed that Vujošević will be buried in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.
The world of basketball has lost a great deal today, but Partizan and our black-and-white family have lost the most. Duško Vujošević's legacy is difficult to put into words, but what is most important for history is the number of brilliant players and great men whose development Duško influenced. For Partizan fans, of course, the most important thing is all the joy he brought to us as a coach. Ostoja Mijailović
As stated by the club's president, a memorial service will be held first on April 14th at 10 AM in the Belgrade City Assembly. The funeral service will take place the same day at 1 PM at the Church of St. Nicholas at the New Cemetery, after which Vujošević will be laid to rest in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens.
Vujošević passed away at the age of 68 after a sudden complication in his health. Following a kidney transplant last year, the legendary coach experienced severe heart and lung problems this March.
