After two major upsets in Čair, we now have an unexpected battle for the trophy.

First, FMP defeated Partizan, and then, in a dramatic second semi-final, Spartak secured their spot against Crvena Zvezda.

Ahead of the grand final, Meridian Sport interviewed Vladimir Jovanović, the coach of Spartak Subotica.

I'd like Spartak, FMP, Borac, and Mega to be newsworthy in their own right. To be talked about for the results they achieve, not to have everything framed by whether we played against big clubs or not. I believe both FMP and we have done enough to be discussed for our merits, not for the historical context of why the 'eternal rivals' aren't here. That's not fair to them or to us.Vladimir Jovanović

The Spartak coach emphasized his dislike for constant comparisons with Serbia's biggest clubs, stating that his team deserves recognition for their accomplishments.

We are clubs in our own right; we fight, and we've earned our place here. Everyone reached this point in their own way, and both FMP and we deserve to be here. I don't like that narrative, and I don't appreciate the constant comparison to big clubs or history. We played, we won, and now we're in the final. Last year, we played and lost. That's basketball, that's sport.Vladimir Jovanović

Jovanović also discussed the upcoming trophy match against FMP, highlighting that his players will not lack motivation.

When you play against teams like Crvena Zvezda, my job is somewhat easier because the players are inherently motivated. The same goes for the final. My role isn't to extract extra energy from the players. FMP and we know each other very well, and I believe this game will be the culmination of everything we've worked on throughout the season.Vladimir Jovanović
