Jorge Martin has been declared unfit and will miss Sunday's Australian MotoGP Grand Prix following a right wrist injury sustained in a crash during Saturday morning's Sprint at Phillip Island.
This will be the Spaniard's first missed start of the current campaign, but his 16th overall since joining Aprilia at the beginning of 2025. In his debut season with the Noale manufacturer, Martin took part in just seven of the 22 rounds due to a string of injuries that began early in pre-season testing.
Those setbacks prevented Martin from defending the world title he claimed with Pramac Ducati in 2024. The script flipped this season, with the "Martinator" being the only front-runner to take the start in each of the opening 17 rounds of the championship.
That consistent run comes to an end on Sunday, however, and could severely damage the Aprilia rider's championship fight against Marc Marquez. Following Saturday's Sprint, the world champion tops the standings by 10 points over Martin and 50 ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, with Marquez's gap theoretically able to expand to 35 points after the Phillip Island grand prix.
