Aprilia has confirmed that Jorge Martin will not rush back to Europe to treat the right wrist injury sustained during Saturday's Australian GP Sprint. As a result of the knock, the Spaniard has officially been ruled out of Sunday's main race at Phillip Island.

"Jorge Martin underwent a CT scan to assess the extent of yesterday's injury. The only confirmed trauma is a non-displaced fracture of the distal radius, near the wrist. Consequently, the rider will not return to Spain and will undergo the necessary treatment over the coming days," Aprilia stated.

The update offers a glimmer of hope that the 'Martinator' could recover in time to contest next week's Malaysian Grand Prix. Regardless of the Phillip Island race result, the Spaniard is guaranteed to remain second in the overall standings heading into Sepang, having trailed Marc Marquez by 10 points before the weekend.
