Jokic Indeed Received an Offer from Athens; Ražnatović Confirms Panathinaikos Owner's Wild Plan
Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos recently revealed his attempt to negotiate with the Denver Nuggets, claiming an offer was presented to both Nikola Jokic and his NBA team.
“Don't laugh at all. If I don't bring Jokic, I'm not going anywhere. This year I tried to make an offer. Call Miško Ražnatović and ask him. People will say I'm joking, but this year I made a very serious offer, both to his team and to him. It was rejected,” stated the controversial Panathinaikos owner.
Journalists followed up on his claim, contacting the Serbian basketball player's agent.
“What Giannakopoulos said is true,” Ražnatović confirmed to Greek outlet Athletiko.
Giannakopoulos's fascination with Jokic is nothing new.
The Panathinaikos owner has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the Serbian star and publicly discussed his ambition to bring him to Athens.
In earlier social media posts, Giannakopoulos even hinted that it was only a matter of time before he would attempt to make his dream signing a reality.
For now, Jokic remains firmly committed to the NBA and the Denver Nuggets, where he continued his dominance last season. The Serbian center averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.7 assists in the 2025/26 season.
