Joining Jokic Instead of Partizan: Denver Continues to Spoil the Black-and-Whites' Plans
The Colorado franchise could spoil Partizan's roster-building plans for the third time. The Denver Nuggets had previously signed wing Cam Whitmore, who was on the Belgrade club's radar, before also snapping up Lonnie Walker during the summer—another major target for the Black-and-Whites.
Although Partizan's interest in Porter Jr. was not as intensive as it was for the aforementioned duo, initial contacts and inquiries were made. However, the 24-year-old American's priority has always been securing an NBA return, putting any offers from Europe on hold.
Porter Jr. already has experience playing on the Old Continent, having enjoyed a highly successful stint with PAOK Thessaloniki. Interestingly, he stated at the time that if he ever returned to Europe, the Greek side would be his exclusive choice. His temporary departure from the US stemmed from domestic violence charges, a scandal that temporarily derailed his NBA career.
He is a high-caliber player who delivered standout performances with the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. His most prolific scoring season came in 2022/23, when he averaged an impressive 19.2 points while suiting up for the Houston Rockets.
