Tiwa Savage has released a sexy video and the rapture has taken place! Oops! on second thought, we're still here, the sun is up in the sky, (still battling with rain), the mornings are still filled with hustle, and food and sex still taste great for most of mankind!
Nothing has changed.
But oh no. The hypocrites and the busy bodies have gone to work, and by God, there are an army of them! Tiwa's 'Wanted' video was all Nigeria could wish for in this era of recycled ideas and visuals. It was interesting, effusive, sexy, outstanding and innovative. A real piece of art that pushed the borders of creativity and passion.
No longer did we have to deal with the classic and over-flooged romance-based visual that female artistes are 'caged' to make. There was no love at first sight, deep eye contact, slight symbolic smiles, awkward love trials, and the classic romantic kiss. You can also throw in breakfast in bed (with white sheets), and a catch-me-if-you-can scene for good measure.
And Tiwa Savage spared us all of that. She tore up that hackneyed script, got influences from the truly greats in her field - Beyonce, Rihanna, Shakira and Ciara - brought on the prolific Moe Musa, and crafted a video that was pure awesome. The only down side to the 'Wanted' video is the costuming. Only a single sexy outfit was used, and even that is intentional.
And then there was citicism.
Turns out Tiwa has 'failed' a lot of her fans and haters who love a good sexy video from Beyonce, and Rihanna, but frown at the darling Tiwa Savage. Beyonce's 'Drunk In Love' was more raunchy. Queen Bey spent the entire time jiggling her breasts, touching her body, and hugging her Husband. But in no book was she recommended for a death enstence.
Many complain that Tiwa Savage is married, and should be the bearer of morality and home-making, not a sexy diva. But think it as you may, Tiwa's husband loved his wife's display. He sees it as an art befitting of his bride and personal values, and gives his approval. Check out the teets below.
I this episode, we find out that 2 things become stark. Hypocrisy will never take a bow from our society. We are innately religious beings and fanatics, who always have a way to link free-thinking and symbolic exhibitionism to the 'dark' side.
Also our deeply enmeshed belief in the 'moral' African way, has become a cloud in our minds. A perspective and concept that once defined us, have remained unchanging, and has become our disease. It disturbs our judgement, with flexibility in our views now an untainable height. Slowly we are losing our freewill and the basic gift of free thoughts.
Tiwa should be celebrated, and not berated. She should be given accolades for going a new way. The way less followed; where geniuses and icons of old exist. She just raised the bar higher, you all should deal with that.
Charles Novia
The man Charles Novia can be described in a thousand words, and a lifetime of adjectives. But I'll stick to the most obvious.
Talented critic, celebrity busybody, pork-noser royal, noble hater, intelligent bad-belle, Cyber-bully, and glorified internet vigilante, who is never hesitant to release his 2 Cents on anything and everything in Nigeria.
If a celebrity has great sex, it's Novia's business. If another goes down with the Flu, Novia will find a way to bring himself in, a raunchy photo is revealed, and he turns his nose up with words, and even if a new dress is debuted in a novel way, you'll find Novia sizing it up. I wonder what will happen when Cossy Orjiakor's dog takes a shit in public. I'm beyond terrified, Novia.
Please take a chill pill. Life is not that hard. A great man like you just needs a new hobby away from the internet. I think golf suits your elegant demeanour. Try it sometime.
And while you're at it, Leave Tiwa Savage alone and enjoy the video below.
