Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has defended the club's hierarchy following the ongoing fallout surrounding their financial charges. An independent commission has reportedly found Manchester City guilty of 114 out of 115 breaches of Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. According to The Athletic, all potential sanctions remain on the table, with the club facing possible fines, points deductions, stripped titles, or even relegation to the Championship.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has stated that the Premier League process is far from over, with the club remaining determined and confident in proving their innocence. "I've heard everyone else dive down every rabbit hole, into every discussion. My honest opinion is that I have no reason not to trust Khaldoon. What he said is enough for me. I liked the way he spoke. I liked the letter because it was written by someone who cares about the club," Hart told Goal. He added that, despite the situation, he remains deeply proud of his achievements with City.
"I'm very proud of what I achieved, what I did with Manchester City, and what we reached as a team. That won't change. I did what I did. I went out on the pitch and took care of business there. I won games, lost games, drew games, shook hands, and walked off the pitch. I know what I did, I know what we did, and I know how it all happened. There was never any feeling that we were scheming or plotting anything," Hart added.
The goalkeeper represented Manchester City from 2006 to 2018, including several loan spells. He won six trophies with City, including two Premier League titles in 2011/12 and 2013/14.
