"Jabari Cost Us €5,000,000!" Ostoja Mijailović Reveals Staggering Figures Behind Parker's Contract Termination

Partizan have officially closed one of the most complicated and costly chapters in the club's recent history. Jabari Parker is no longer a member of the black-and-whites, and president Ostoja Mijailović spoke to Mozzart Sport to reveal how the termination was reached, the exact financial terms, and provided updates on roster registration, new signings, and the derby.

Parting ways with the American forward was an essential step toward easing the club's payroll:

"We reached an agreement to terminate our cooperation, resolving a very complex issue for the club. Parker held the largest contract in Partizan's history, so it was our responsibility to find a solution that would reduce the financial burden and allow us to continue shaping the roster." — Ostoja Mijailović

The black-and-whites' president then disclosed the exact financial details of the departure:

"For last season, his contract was paid in full, amounting to $3,100,000 gross. For this season, we agreed on a payout of roughly 50 percent of his deal. In total, his stint will cost Partizan just under $5,000,000 across the two contract years. It represents a massive expense for the club, and it is important for the public to know the true extent of that commitment, as well as the fact that this agreement generated significant savings compared to the full value of the contract." — Ostoja Mijailović

Beyond the financial relief, Parker's exit also removed a major administrative hurdle in registering new additions:

"There is an important factor that many did not realize: as long as Parker was registered, we did not have an open roster spot to register a new player. His departure was a prerequisite for bringing in reinforcements. Securing the funds and finding a target wasn't enough on its own – we first had to resolve the existing roster situation." — Ostoja Mijailović

Meanwhile, the club strengthened its roster with the arrivals of Antonio Reeves and Robert Franks:

"I am pleased with the new arrivals. They were brought in according to the head coach's wishes, aligning with the team's needs and the options on the market. I expect them to justify our trust, embrace the coaching staff's demands, and help the team perform with greater quality and consistency." — Ostoja Mijailović

Despite mounting speculation surrounding KK Bosna center Reggie Perry, Mijailović remained tight-lipped on potential transfer targets:

"I would not comment on players who are under contract with other clubs. Regarding our roster, our needs are assessed by the head coach and the sports sector, and the management works to create the conditions to execute their decisions. Should there be any concrete news, the club will announce it."

Finally, the Partizan president reflected on the victory in the recent Eternal Derby:

"It was an important win for the squad and our supporters. I congratulate the players and coaching staff on their fight, accountability, and approach to the game. The derby always carries special weight, but the season is long and there is no reason for euphoria. This level of energy and commitment to the jersey must be our standard going forward."

Partizan Bid Farewell to Jabari

Partizan announced the news across their official social media channels.

"Jabari Parker is no longer a Partizan player! Following the conclusion of his loan spell at Joventut, Parker returned to Belgrade but was not involved with the first team. Today, the player and the Club reached a mutual agreement to terminate their contract. KK Partizan wishes Jabari Parker the best of luck in his future endeavors."

The second overall pick from the 2014 NBA Draft arrived in Humska in the summer of 2025 as one of the highest-profile and most expensive acquisitions in recent club history, but struggled to live up to expectations. He was soon deemed a surplus requirement and sent on loan to Joventut, where he finished the previous campaign.

Parker returned to Belgrade this summer but did not train with the squad, making his eventual departure from Partizan only a matter of time.
