The Miami Heat suffered their first preseason loss on Saturday night, dropping a nail-biting 125-124 contest at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Nikola Jović put in a standout performance for Miami, once again proving to Erik Spoelstra that he warrants more playing time. The Serbian international logged roughly 25 minutes, scoring 16 points on efficient 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while adding six rebounds and three assists.

Spoelstra was full of praise for the Serbian youngster after the game:

"Nikola has the skill set. You can see it in all the games we've played so far. He's going to continue to improve, just like any NBA player. When things don't go your way, you have to find a way to win the next possession." - Erik Spoelstra

Speaking on his growth, Jović highlighted his newfound maturity and improved decision-making across various game situations. He particularly emphasized the importance of quickly moving on to the next play—a key area of focus stressed by Spoelstra.

"I think I've simply matured a bit. It's a new year for me, and I'm smarter in certain situations now. Reacting quickly to the next play is something he really wants me to get better at." - Nikola Jović
