"It's not normal for such things to happen repeatedly in a final!" Peñarroya announces a different Partizan ahead of the second game against Dubai: We know we can do better
)
The Black and Whites suffered a 99-93 defeat in the opening game, and it felt like the defending champions weren't playing at their usual level.
Peñarroya himself acknowledged this, stating that his team needs to address several issues from the first game if they want to return to Belgrade with a crucial break.
In the playoffs, every game is different. For us, the most important thing now is to rest well and prepare for the next match. It's clear we need to improve our energy. We started the first game poorly, especially as they were getting easy points from routine situations. They had six or seven two-on-one opportunities. In a final, it's not normal for such things to happen six or seven times.Joan Peñarroya
The Spaniard, who extended his contract with Partizan until 2028 on Friday, believes his team is capable of a much better performance than what they showed in the previous clash.
We know we can play better. We also know we need to improve our mentality for the next game. A final isn't over until someone reaches three wins. Joan Peñarroya
Partizan's point guard, Carlik Jones, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the team's need to quickly turn the page and give their all to improve their showing.
A tough loss for us, but we have to turn the page and get ready for the second game. The series isn't over; this was just the first match, and there's a lot more basketball ahead. We need to review the tape, correct the small details, and prepare for the next duel. I expect us to react, not repeat the same mistakes, and secure a win.Carlik Jones
The second game of the final series is scheduled for Saturday at 6:00 PM in Dubai, after which the series will move to the Belgrade Arena. The outcome remains to be seen.
