Senator Adeleke died on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Ayilara ruled out poison as the cause of death, saying no traces of it were found in the deceased’s system.

He said had treated Senator Adeleke without doctor’s prescription for several years.

He added that on the day Adeleke died, Aderibigbe had administered some drugs on him intravenously as written in his statement and confirmed by the autopsy and toxicology report.

“The high dose of sedatives and analgesics with the mode of administration caused aspiration which culminated in death,” the coroner said.

He said Taiwo Solaja, consultant anatomic pathologist with the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) teaching hospital, also confirmed that the deceased died due to drug overdose coupled with abnormally high level of alcohol.

Ayilara recommended that the qualification of Aderibigbe be further investigated by the police.

He also advised the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP)’s office to look further into the case file of Aderibigbe to know the appropriate charge, if any, to press against him.
