Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has withdrawn from the Sweden national team squad due to a minor injury, according to official reports. The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Sweden's 2-1 Nations League victory over Romania on Friday, opening the scoring in the 20th minute.

Isak has been in excellent form for Liverpool this season – his first full campaign with the club after suffering a serious injury last term. He has started every Premier League match for the Reds and has netted four goals so far.

Consequently, the forward will now miss Sweden's remaining three fixtures during the current international break – against Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania.

Following the match against Romania, Isak was pictured with a blood-stained sock after what he described to reporters as a "heavy stamp." However, neither of the official announcements specified the exact nature of the problem that led to his departure from the camp.

Liverpool subsequently confirmed Isak's withdrawal with a post on social media.

“Alexander Isak will return to Liverpool from the national team camp due to a minor injury,” the club stated. “The forward will not participate in Sweden’s remaining three matches during the current international break and will now be assessed by the club’s medical team at the AXA Training Centre.”

The Reds' next fixture is on October 11th against Manchester City.
