The Red Bull driver, who missed races in the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain due to a wrist injury, made a strong return on the shores of the Caspian Sea. He delivered an impressive performance to secure third position, finishing behind winner George Russell and teammate Max Verstappen.

Following his podium finish, however, Hadjar was summoned by the race stewards to explain a breach of the race director's instructions before the start. The infringement concerned practice starts at the pit lane exit, where Hadjar failed to rejoin the track at the first opportunity after aborting a planned practice start.

The stewards concluded that Hadjar had indeed failed to follow Race Director Rui Marques' instructions but decided against imposing a severe penalty on the French driver. Instead, they issued an informal warning, acknowledging mitigating circumstances, specifically the aborted practice start which they deemed to have "distracted" the driver.
