The Red Bull driver had complained about the handling of his car throughout all three practice sessions, finishing down in tenth in FP3. However, he looked noticeably more comfortable from the start of qualifying, translating that turnaround into a strong third-place result.
"I'm pleased with third place. It's been an extremely difficult weekend right from the start, as I just couldn't find the right balance with the car. I had a really tough time in FP3 and didn't even manage a lap on the soft tyres because the car was so difficult to drive. "I want to thank the whole team for their hard work all weekend. I was quite harsh on them, and I want to apologise for that. I'm happy with third, but pole position was definitely up for grabs. "There was a very strong tailwind in Turns 13 and 15, which cost me a massive amount of time on my lap. So I'm a bit disappointed, but at the same time, I'm glad I fought through the adversity to take third," the Red Bull driver said.
