This summer could see one of the NBA's most intriguing deals unfold: a trade between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic that would send Ja Morant to Florida.
According to journalist Evan Sidery, such a deal would provide Orlando with the star player they need to contend for higher stakes in the Eastern Conference, while Memphis would receive a package of players offering greater depth and roster flexibility.
Magic receive:
Ja Morant
32nd pick in this year's draft
2030 first-round pick
Grizzlies receive:
Jalen Suggs
Jonathan Isaac
Goga Bitadze
Morant's future in Memphis is increasingly becoming a league-wide talking point. Last season, the guard once again battled injuries, playing only 20 games where he averaged 19.5 points and 8.1 assists.
Concerns about his health are not new. Morant has not surpassed the 50-game mark in any of the last three seasons, inevitably raising questions about whether Memphis should continue to build their team around him, especially given his controversial off-court behavior in recent years.
From the Grizzlies' perspective, such a move would bring more balance to the roster and an opportunity to retool the entire team. Jalen Suggs would add solid perimeter defense, Jonathan Isaac could provide defensive versatility when healthy, and Goga Bitadze would bring additional depth in the paint.
