Renovation work on Barcelona's iconic ground continues at full throttle despite the international break. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo revealed exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from inside the venue, showcasing progress across areas previously off-limits to the media. Led by the club's Director of Operations, Joan Sentelles, around 1,500 workers are currently active on site, down from a peak of over 3,000.

Ambitions for the Champions League Final and 2030 World Cup

The project is on track for its final phase in 2028, when the revamped Spotify Camp Nou will reach a capacity of 104,600 seats. The Catalan giants are eager to host the 2029 Champions League final, as well as marquee fixtures at the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with the ultimate dream being the hosting of the final itself.

New VIP Seating and Luxury Boxes

Ahead of this Sunday's women's Clásico, the club will debut upgraded luxury seating, expanding the rows from two to four. These enhancements are also set to generate significant revenue during the men's showdown on October 25. The construction of the double VIP ring in the Lateral stand covers an area of 33,000 square metres and is slated to open in March 2027, ahead of the summer roof-lifting operation.

The Presidential Box is also undergoing a massive overhaul—its capacity has risen from 147 to 296 seats, including 50 VIP spots. The expanded interior will feature a dedicated catering area, a boardroom, and a food preparation kitchen.

Key Milestone: Closing the Compression Ring

The installation of the canopy's load-bearing structure is nearing completion. Only one final section remains to be placed to close the full 360-degree compression ring. Workers are currently awaiting precise drop in temperature to allow for the proper thermal expansion of the metal, with this final assembly expected to take place next week.

Seating installation on the third tier is already underway, though the upper deck will only fully reopen to supporters in the 2027/28 campaign, marking the permanent return from Montjuïc and the completion of the roof.

Stand Design and Club Identity

Seats in the central section of the Lateral stand will form the Barcelona crest. To prevent the emblem from appearing half-finished during construction phases, the existing seating across the first and second tiers will be rearranged. The iconic motto "Més que un club" will feature across the main stand, while the Spotify logo will adorn the stands behind both goals in Gol Nord and Gol Sud.

Modernised Facilities and Media Areas

Access to the third tier will be facilitated by ten vertical transit cores equipped with lifts and escalators. The first set of escalators, following current testing, will lead directly to the club museum. Meanwhile, lifts are undergoing continuous 24-hour stress tests to prevent mechanical faults.

To the right of the players' tunnel, a brand-new amphitheatre-style press conference room is being built. It will boast over 200 seats, simultaneous interpretation booths, and dedicated workspaces for journalists, although it is not a primary priority for the current season. For now, the temporary media tribune remains at the back of the second tier before eventually relocating to the third.

The away section will permanently move to the third tier once redevelopment is complete. The project also incorporates step-free accessibility zones on both the first and third tiers for fans with reduced mobility, alongside plans for a panoramic rooftop restaurant atop the stadium's highest stand.
