Couple arrested for beating son to death in church

Bruce Leonard, 65, Deborah Leonard, 59 and four members of the Word of Life Church in New Hartford, New York, has been allegedly arrested for fatally beating teenagers in church.

The Guardian reports that the assault lead to the death of the couple’s 19-year-old son and leaving their 17-year-old son seriously injured.

Lieutenant Timothy O’Neill, spokesman of the New Hartford Police Department said the couples were charged with first degree manslaughter and are charged on a $100,000 bail each, while the other four church members were charged at $50,000 bail each.

19-year-old Lucas Leonard was said to have been brought to St. Luke's campus health system dead on arrival with injuries in his stomach, genitals, back and thighs on Monday, October 12, 2015.

Reason for the assault is yet to be disclosed by both the couple and the others involved.
