More than a few pilots fly under the influence - FAA records
It would appear that more than a few pilots in the United States fly airplanes under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
This is according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records obtained by Fox News.
According to the records, 64 pilots of US carriers were cited for violating alcohol and drug provisions from 2010 to 2015, while 38 pilots tested positively for illegal drugs in 2015 alone.
This wasn't limited to pilots, other airline and airport staff including mechanics, dispatchers, ground security and air traffic controllers that tested at or below the alcohol limit in 2015 was about 0.2% or 119 out of 56,000 tested.
Speaking with Fox News, retired military pilot Peter Bartos said drug use seems to be climbing, pointing out that "the general public probably has no idea that this abuse is occurring with such regularity at certain airlines."
