"We have intolerable levels of violence against women, the murder of women by their spouses and close friends and boyfriends - that is a crisis in our nation,” Naidoo said.

A high-profile celebrity getting off the hook so easily what does it say about our justice system?" he added.

Pastor Naidoo told the that the Pistorius’s release sends out the wrong message considering that the athlete was yet to serve a full year of his 5-year sentence and has been granted to be on house arrest.

Oscar Pistorius has been moved from a central Pretoria jail to live with his uncle.

The 28-year-old double-amputee runner was arrested and jailed for killing his then girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in 2013

Pistorius claimed that he thought Reeva was an intruder in his home and killed her by mistake.

A representative of Steenkamp's family said Pistorius' fate mattered little to them, because the slain model was never coming back.
