Unknown gunmen laid waste to the lives of at least 10 people after attacking a slaughter market in the Mgbosimiri area of Port Harcourt on Monday, October 9, 2017.

Panic broke out in the Mgbosimiri and AGIP community in the Rivers state capital after the gunmen invaded the market around 4am and opened fire on traders.
The state's police public relations officer, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the unfortunate incident later on Monday, indicating that officers have taken control of the area with the motive behind the attack yet to be determined.
"The motive for the killings is not clear yet as some of those killed may not have been the target of the gunmen," he said.
