2-year old girl dies mysteriously after swallowing battery

Brianna Florer, 2 was at her grandparents’ house when her skin turned blue and she began throwing up blood.

Brianna was rushed to hospital, but doctors were unable to save her after they discovered she had swallowed a small push battery.

Brianna’s grandfather, Kent Vice, told Oklahoma newspaper: ‘On Saturday she was fine. It was a perfect Christmas.’

And he continued: ‘They operated on her for two and a half hours, but they couldn’t stop the bleeding.

‘They believed the battery (acid) ate through to her carotid artery by way of her esophagus… We had no idea when she swallowed it .’

Referring to button batteries, Mr Vice said: ‘I want to keep these things out of houses. They are dangerous.’

The family, who live in Oklahoma , has set up a fundraising page aiming to raise $7,500 (3 million Naira) to pay for Brianna’s funeral.

A post on GoFundMe said: ‘Please find it in your heart to donate money to help pay for this sweet little angels funeral expenses as the family will need time to heal from such a tragedy and will be missing some work ect. But most of all please add them to your prayers.’
