An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Thursday granted N20,000 bail to a suspect, Emeka Adu,28, for allegedly stealing a mobile phone worth N35, 000.

The Magistrate, A.O. Anifowoshe, also ordered the accused to provide two sureties in like sum.
Anifowoshe said that the sureties must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The prosecutor, Insp. Eruada Victor, told the court that Adu committed the offence at Adejobi Str., Pen Cinema, Agege, Lagos on Jan. 17.
Victor said that the accused stole a lenovo mobile phone from the shop of one Mario Soyinka.

The prosecutor said that the complainant saw the accused with the phone and raised an alarm which led to his arrest.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned till Feb. 22 for mention.
