Nwali, a resident of Bada Street, Mushin, Lagos,  pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing brought against him.

Ekogbule said the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Insisting that the accused committed the offence, Police Prosecutor Clement Okuoimose said: “A neighbour, who sighted the accused while taking away the motorcycle raised alarm."

“People in the neighborhood gave him a hot chase, arrested him and recovered the motorcycle.”

Insp.Okuoimose told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 20 at No. 26, Ogunsola St., Ifako- Ijaiye, Lagos.

The accused stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N80,000 belonging to the complainant,  Mr Nuru Tiamiyu, from where it was parked.

The prosecution said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be jailed for three years if found guilty of stealing, according to the criminal law.

The case was adjourned until April 3 for mention.
