Court remands alleged fake moet wine distributor in prison
The Federal High Court, Lagos on Friday remand a 43-year-old woman, Julian Madu, in prison custody for alleged sale and distribution of unregistered wine.
The judge, Justice Abdulazeez Anka, made the order following an application by the prosecution.
Anka, therefore, adjourned the case till Jan. 26, for review of facts.
He was arraigned on a three-count charge of distribution and sale of unregistered products.
The Prosecutor, Mr Shamaki Umar, urged the court to remand the accused in custody, pending the review of facts of the case.
Umar had told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 16 at his residence at Oke-Arin Area of Lagos.
He said that Madu produced, sold and distributed the counterfeit products to consumers.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 5, 6 and 6(1) (a) of the Food Drugs and Related products (Registration) Act Cap F33 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
