Gunmen abduct 2 judiciary workers, demand N50m ransom

Unknown gunmen on Thursday, May 19, abducted two workers of the Kogi State judiciary, reports says.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the victims identified as Mr Timothy Salihu of the Upper Area Court, Lokoja and Mr Aliyu Okeme, a retired Inspector of Area Court whisked away at gun-point.

They were reportedly kidnapped on the Idah-Lokoja road in the eastern flank of the state.

An eye-witness told NAN that Okeme, who is now into private practice as a legal practitioner after his retirement and Salihu were together at the time of the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Williams Aya, said the police are working round the clock to track down the abductors.

Meanwhile, a reliable source from the judiciary told NAN that the abductors initially demanded N50 million ransom, but reduced it to N1 million after appeal by the two families.
