The Jigawa Forum has advised the Jigawa Government to set up a task force that will oversee the timely supply of genuine seeds to farmers in the state.

The forum gave the advice in a statement issued by its Director-General, Mr Yahaya Ibrahim, on Friday after a meeting with the state executives of agro-dealers associations and All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Dutse.

“As part of series of advocacy meetings planned for stakeholders in the agricultural sector, the Jigawa Forum met with agro-dealers and AFAN officials.

“Important issues towards accelerating agricultural development in the state were extensively discussed.

“At the meeting, we decided to advise the state government to set up a task force that would ensure the timely provision of genuine seeds to farmers.

“The government was also advised to fully involve agro dealers and farmers’ associations in the implementation of its cluster farming programme,’’ it added.

The forum said that the meeting also commended the Jigawa Government for its commitment to accelerating the agricultural development of state and the successes so far recorded.
