According to a Facebook user, Issahaku B. Gbene, politicians in that country have been going to the grassroots where they undertake menial jobs in order to woo voters.

Gbene took to his wall to post photos of  different politicians seeking for votes cooking meals, pounding 'Banku', (a local delicacy), and even plaiting female hair all in a bid to get into the hearts of the people.

Gbene particularly mentioned the Chairman of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Dr. Kpesah Whyte, pounding 'Banku' in a village while the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) boss, Dr. Alfred Vandapuije, turned himself into a hairdresser.

This is  what Gbene wrote on his wall:

"On the left, is the NSS Boss, Dr. Kpesah Whyte, driving banku for votes like the hay days of Bukom Banku at James town.

To the right is the AMA Lord Mayor, Dr. Alfred Vandapuije, plating hair for votes like the hustling hairdresser in my home village struggling to put body and soul together.

I trust that after the elections, they will continue with these social interventions for the good of humanity!"

During the campaigns for the 2015 elections in Nigeria, some politicians took their campaign to the streets, trying to be at one with the people.

Current Minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi in particular, was seen at a popular market in Port Harcourt, plaiting the hair of a woman while Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, went around the markets selling cowhide (Kpomo) as well selling roasted plaintain.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, turned into a roasted corn seller while the present First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was an 'akara' (bean cake) seller, all in the bid to woo voters.

Even the present Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode was not left out as he stopped along a street in the state to buy roasted plantain while Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola showed he is at home with school pupils as he dressed as one of them.
