The terrified woman in her 60's had been strolling in the outback, 280 miles south-west of Darwin when the 23ft crocodile attacked her.

A woman has been reportedly attacked by a crocodile having her hand ripped off as she had walked her dogs.

The crocodile reportedly chewed off her arm from the elbow down.

According to Sky News, the woman had had to be persuaded to receive help from a passer-by, because 'she didn't want to get blood in the car'.

Paul Cavanagh, who reportedly lives close to the scene of the accident, that his nephew and son-in-law had rescued the badly injured woman.

Cavanagh revealed saying:

"She was standing on the side of the road just shocked, She's lived here a long time, hopefully she's all right."

Michael Snowball, who is reported to own and run a cafe close to Three Mile Creek, added saying:

"It came out of the water and grabbed her and did a death roll and took her arm off near the elbow."

A spokeswoman, while giving a speech on the incident said:

"We've got crews on site trying to locate the animal.

"If that doesn't happen, we'll soon be getting fresh crews in to come and deploy a trap with a view to trapping and destroying the animal."
